The City of Santa Clarita is pleased to offer parenting classes
and workshops to help support, encourage, and foster parental skill
development. Our parenting class instructors are community members
who have taken a sincere interest in providing a valuable resource
to other parents. Classes are offered in English and Spanish and
are free of charge. The City offers the following parenting classes:
Active
Parenting of Teens
A
parent education program for Santa Clarita parents of teens. This
parenting program provides parents with the skills required to meet
the challenges of parenting teens and preteens in today’s
turbulent society.
Active
Parenting Now
Designed
for parents of children ages 5 to 12 years old. This program provides
parents with skills to help develop cooperation, responsibility,
and self-esteem in their children, and prepare them to meet the
challenges of teenage years. This program also teaches parents positive,
non-violent discipline techniques to avoid power struggles.
Active
Parenting 1,2,3,4 Parents
This acclaimed parenting program offers a proven approach
to working with children ages 1-4 years old. Parents will learn
the four stages of child development and how to enhance their child's
learning at each stage, how to use non-violent discipline techniques
that really work, and will discover how the power of encouragement
helps children learn positive behavior at an early stage.
Cooperative
Parenting and Divorce
Parents
will learn to guide their children through the process of recovery, while establishing a long-term relationship with the child's other
parent.
Parent
Workshops
Parenting workshops offers parents a combination of support,
education, resources, and incentives to become more knowledgeable
and be the best parents they can be. Workshops topics have included:
gang awareness, childhood nutrition, child abuse and child safety
issues, anger management, reconnection of teens and parents, families
living with children with special needs, and infant massage. workshops
are offered once a month throughout the year.
